Saskatchewan

Since 1985, 5 ancillary common law police powers have been generated by trial and appeal courts in Saskatchewan. Pre-existing common law police powers have been deployed by courts in Saskatchewan 50 times.

Meanwhile, these courts have declined to generate common law police powers on 16 occasions and declined to deploy pre-existing powers on 66.

This project would not be possible without the support of the Canadian Bar Association's Law for the Future Fund.
