Nova Scotia:

Since 1985, 7 ancillary common law police powers have been generated by trial and appeal courts in Nova Scotia. Pre-existing common law police powers have been deployed by Nova Scotian Courts 44 times.

Meanwhile, these courts have declined to generate common law police powers on 10 occasions and declined to deploy pre-existing powers on 35.

This project would not be possible without the support of the Canadian Bar Association's Law for the Future Fund.
